I hope you dont have something agains Straight Edge people, because I am. But im not anti-choice I mean by that than im not gonna try to kick someone ass because he's not straight edge. Some straight edge people take this too seriously and im not agree with them. Anyway. A lot of people dont like us because they think we are close minded people, and that's not true.For people who dont know what is Straight Edge, it's a youth movement closely aligned with the hardcore music scene. But it's not just only a kind of music or painted hands. It's first of all a way of living, throwing away any habits and drugs wich have destructive influence on human's life and body. It's a philosophy based on regard for yourself and for the whole world around you. Most sXe don't even use caffeine. Many sXe'er become active in trying to save the environment, or fighting for animal rights. Since many sXe'er are vegan or vegetarian, that's not my case. sXe is the only youth counterculture to actively discourage drug use, alcohol use and casual sex.

The Elemental rules of Straight Edge are:

  1. No smoke
  2. No drug
  3. No drink
  4. No fuck

The term Straight Edge was coinced by Ian Mackaye in a song called Straight Edge wich he wrote when he was in the band Minor Threat. Their music is fast, powerful,with angry and toughful lyrics. Minor Threat was a part of the intense 80's hardcore scene in Washington D.C. Minor Threat was the first band to visibly use the term 'SXE' and use the X as a symbol.

My opinion is that being straight edge is mainly not drinking, not doing drugs and taking care of you body. Personnaly I dont like drugs, what is the fun in damaging your body so you feel weird. That is what drugs do. I really hate cigarette too, I know people who are hooked and belive they cannot quit. Cigarette is a big waste of money too. But I have some point of view about No Fuck. Because sex is a natural human need it's not like cigarette n' drink. For me this rule mean: Don't fuck around! Don't change partner every twice a months. But I think than SXE is first of all: Live your own damn life and respect other peoples right to do the same.(Ian Mackaye)
